Swedish Thanksgiving...

We always find another reason to celebrate, and being a international couple makes it way easier :). Sophie didn't have a real Thanksgiving dinner last year, so she wanted to have one this year. And who can say no to such a great opportunity to invite friends and have a shitload of great food to eat. The Canadian and American Thanksgiving is almost one month apart, so we just decided to pick one day in between the two - the 3rd of November. Finding a turkey is also in Sweden not too difficult - you just pay around a tenfold for it. We had to buy it three days in advance, because it needed time to unfreeze in the fridge. When the day was come, we were shopping and cooking for 5h straight (the recipes will be soon on our blog). But it was definitely worth it: we had the turkey with gluten free stuffing (for Riccardo) and special, from Canada imported spices; mashed potatoes, mashed squash (my favorite); beans, cranberry sauce and carrots. The starter was brought by Michaël and Jenny, and we also made a desert: a pumpkin pie and a lemon meringue pie. It was delicious! Thanks to the well equipped ICA Focus we could get even special ingredients, like pumpkin in a can.
When the turkey was cooked and the pies in the oven, the first guest arrived.Thanksgiving is usually a family tradition. As a substitute for our families, we had ten of our closest friends over - some came even all the way from Italy :D. To have enough space we booked the party room in our building, which was perfect for this occasion. It was plenty of food, no one had to starve, and it was a great evening.
